Karen M. Perl, D.O.

A native of Richardson, Texas, Dr. Perl is board
certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
(PM&R) and Subspecialty Boarded ABMS in Pain
Management - an area of medicine that focuses
on more conservative, non-operative methods of
treating orthopedic injuries. In 1993, Dr. Perl
received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from
Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She went on to
obtain her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine
from the University of North Texas Health Science
Center (UNTHSC) in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1999
during which time she also completed an
Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Fellowship.
During medical school, she was named to Who's
Who Among Students in Universities and
Colleges.

Dr. Perl's postgraduate studies included a residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals & Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin, in 2003 followed by an additional year fellowship in Spinal Intervention and Pain Management in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2004. She is experienced in a number of specialty areas, including diagnosis and conservative treatment of musculoskeletal and soft-tissue injuries, joint, spinal and trigger point injections and chronic pain management. Dr. Perl specializes in the comprehensive non-operative management of musculoskeletal disorders including interventional fluoroscopic guided procedures, opiod and non-opiod pharmacotherapy and acute, chronic and postoperative chronic pain conditions and electrodiagnostics including EMG and NCS.

The spectrum of her treatment plan begins with the most conservative to the more invasive techniques, emphasizing a team approach, functional restoration and ergonomics. Outside of the office, Dr. Perl is an active volunteer in local community events and enjoys refereeing youth soccer. She enjoys spending time with her pets, working out, sailing, dancing and traveling. Her professional memberships include the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, International Spinal Injection Society, and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
